I AM Thrid

This book is an inspirational story of a man named Gale Sayers. The book Starts out in 1968 where Gale is doing a normal play in a game Vs the 49'ers when Kermit Alexander came diving in to make the play on Gale. Kermit hit Gale in the knee and it bent sideways at a 45 degree angle tearing all the ligament in his knee. This is a major injury to recover from. But that didn't stop Gale Sayers. He had knee surgery on it to repair the torn ligaments. He had to work very hard and go thought much pain to get his knee back in to shape for the next football season. This was no easy task to accomplish. Gale had to lift weights and run a lot. He was determined to show everyone that he could do it and be better than he was before his injury. The first game since coming back form keen surgery Gale didn't start but the coach start but he did return kicks and punts. The first kick that he returned ran it all the way back but then it was brought back to the because he stepped out of bounds but it still was a 69 yard return. Even though the Bears lost that game 13 to 7 it was a big boost for Gale's confidence. Before the 1969 season he got a new contract making him the highest payed running back and selected to the pro bowl.

During are meeting are main topic was if we had suffered a injury like Gales would we continue to play and how would this effect us. We decied that we would all return to play the sport and we would all try are hardest to get back to the form we had before the injury. We also said that we would be more frigthen of reinjury and lack of confidence.

We also discused how we believed that Gale had a great deal of motovation and a will to come back.
